Dougong - The Journey to ChangAn Book I

There are endless wisdoms in the ancient teachings … unfortunately the meanings are often obscure, or hidden, or they only point to the Way, as it must be, since the Way is different for everyone.
Only through an awakened awareness, can one connect the teachings to one's life experiences, and gain enlightened insight into the hidden messages.
In Song Dynasty China, an orphan boy, placed in the care of one of the greatest Chinese philosophers, sought to understand why no one would speak to him about his parents. Fate leads him on a quest to find his father, to find his destiny, and … from his experiences … to gain insight into the hidden meanings behind the ancient teachings.
In the same village a young girl sought to understand and navigate her own life … at a time when young girls feet were painfully bound, and women were suppressed by traditional Chinese culture. Fate and her instincts lead her on a quest to find her own destiny … not society's.
As there are no boundaries in nature … there are no boundaries in the spirit world. So, when these two youths meditated deeply together to find answers to their questions … their spirits became entangled for eternity … and reverberations were felt far away.
For them, eternity became … not endless time … eternity became … no time.
"Granny … where do immortals come from?" the prince asked the elderly woman
."Why child … immortals are just ordinary people … who have done extra-ordinary things."
Although it took place a thousand years ago, their questions are relevant today ...
"Why did these things happen to me?""Is there any meaning to life?""How do I find my destiny?"
This is the story of how two young people overcame formidable challenges to find their destiny
.
With a small group of companions, they journey to Chang An, the ancient Tang capital and terminus of the famous Silk Road. However, powerful forces were determined to stop them … corrupt local officials, bandits, river pirates, Arab jihadi's and malevolent ministers in the capital … all trying to kill the two young travelers.
Because of a new style tea?
There must be something more here …
"What one does not know is not an end ... it is the beginning of discovery."
